At Dawson’s, our team is at the heart of everything we do. They’re the ones picking up the phone when something’s gone wrong, talking through options when things get complex, and finding the right solutions to help you, our clients and community, move forward.
They’re also human, and this month, we’re putting some extra focus on looking after them.
November is often when the year starts to speed up, before we get to take a well-earned break. Deadlines, renewals, and the general rush before Christmas can make it easy to forget about ourselves. So, this year, we’ve decided to pause and make wellbeing a shared focus for our team. A reminder that if we want to keep showing up well for our clients, we need to show up well for ourselves first.
We’ve started small. Tuesday lunchtime walks have become a regular fixture; a chance to stretch the legs, breathe in some fresh lake air, and chat about something other than policy renewals. If you’re looking for a bit of fresh air, why not join us?
Our regular Friday morning teas have turned into a light-hearted test of balance and coordination (yes, standing on one leg absolutely counts as exercise). And later this month, we’ll wrap things up with a wonderfully active team day out on the Rapid Jets; a bit of fun and a well-earned celebration after a busy year.
None of it’s about ticking a box or launching a grand wellbeing programme. It’s simply about connection and recognising ourselves and what we need as people, with each other, with the outdoors, and with what keeps us grounded.
Movember has also been on our minds, with its reminder to check in on health and mental wellbeing, especially for the men in our lives. It’s easy to think we’ll get around to it “later”, but like insurance, prevention matters most before things go wrong.
The truth is resilience isn’t just a ‘business’ word. It’s something we all build through the little things: taking a walk, having a laugh with a colleague, or making time to reset. Those moments are what help us bring our best selves to work—and ultimately, to you.
So, this November, while we’re out walking, stretching, and reconnecting, we hope it reminds others too that wellbeing doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be intentional.
Because behind every quote, claim, and conversation, there’s a real person doing the mahi—and at Dawson’s, we think that’s worth looking after.
Stay well,
